At Sherbrooke Community School, our Secondary program (Years 7–12) is all about supporting students to become confident, capable and connected young people — ready for whatever comes next.

As a small, community-based government school, we provide a flexible and inclusive approach to learning. Every student is known, supported and given opportunities to follow a pathway that suits their interests, strengths, and goals.

📘 Years 7–10: Building Strong Foundations

In the early years of secondary school, we focus on deepening literacy and numeracy skills, developing critical and creative thinking, and expanding learning through hands-on and inquiry-based approaches. Students engage in:

• Core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities

• Specialist areas: Art, Japanese, PE, Health, Design Technologies

• Enrichment and real-world projects that make learning meaningful

• Supportive wellbeing programs that build resilience and relationships

Our small class sizes and close teacher-student relationships help us personalise learning and keep students engaged, motivated and supported.

🎓 Years 11–12: Pathways that Fit

Senior secondary at Sherbrooke offers a range of pathways to suit different learning styles and post-school goals.

VCE – Victorian Certificate of Education

Students can complete VCE over two or more years, with a choice of subjects tailored to their interests and future plans — whether that’s university, TAFE or the workforce.

VET – Vocational Education and Training

Students can integrate VET courses into their VCE or VCE VM program, gaining nationally recognised qualifications and real industry experience in areas like hospitality, construction, animal studies and more.

VCE VM – VCE Vocational Major (formerly VCAL)

A hands-on option for students who thrive through applied learning. VCE VM focuses on work-related skills, literacy and numeracy for life, personal development and practical experiences. It’s ideal for students looking at apprenticeships, traineeships or employment pathways.
