Tue 3/6 – LGBTQIA+ Pride Celebration Day

At Sherbrooke Community School, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of their

sexual orientation or gender identity. This Pride celebration day is an opportunity to showcase our school’s commitment to celebrating diversity and

supporting our LGBTQIA+ community.

What to Expect:

Celebration during first break

11.15am-11.50am

This will be held on the back deck of the school grounds, decorated in rainbow. We will be having bracelet making activities, music and baked goods available to anyone who would like to attend.

Everyone is welcome to dress in colourful clothing

Staff and students are encouraged to wear rainbow coloured clothing.

Parental choice for student involvement

If your child would like to attend this event, they are welcome to head to the back deck at first break. If you or your child would not like to attend this event,

they are welcome to spend first break in the front area of the school.

Why is this important?

Celebrating Pride at school sends a powerful message to our students that they are valued and respected for who they are. It helps to:

· Promote understanding and acceptance:

It provides a space for open discussions about LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences.

·  Create a sense of belonging:

It helps LGBTQIA+ students feel safe and supported in their school environment.

· Challenge prejudice and discrimination:

It demonstrates our commitment to fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect.
